Dear Parents
As you may know the School is working towards gaining the Government's National Healthy School's Status. This covers many aspects, part of which requires us to have a whole school Food Policy. Fruit or vegetable snacks at breaktimes are a small but essential element of this and we ask you as parents to continue to support us by giving your child only a piece of fruit or vegetable for their snack. If your child likes 'chewy' bars, or similar, containing fruit this is fine but these should be in their lunchboxes as extras with a piece of fruit or vegetable available for a snack at breaktime. May I also take this opportunity to remind you that chocolate and fizzy drinks are not allowed in lunchboxes (chocolate biscuits are however acceptable). We also encourage the children not to put uneaten food in the bin but to take it home so that you are aware of their eating habits.
Next week the School is organising a 'Health Week' and the curriculum will be planned around this. On Thursday the children are taking part in the sponsored run organised by Jayne Sapey and Year 3 are involved in a Sports Festival at Kingsmead.
On Thursday the Life Education Classroom will be on the playground and remain with us until the following Monday. This will provide high quality and age appropriate PSHE and citizenship sessions, including drug education. Parents who would like to know more about this are invited to a parent's session in the classroom from 8.45 am - 9.15 am on Friday 9 March.
Yours sincerely
Anne Smith
